Vrchlabí – a holiday in the heart of the Krkonoše
The Krkonoše is the highest and most frequently-visited mountain range in the Czech Republic. These enchanting mountains, ruled by the mythical giant Krakonoš, offer visitors prestigious winter sports centres with high-quality ski resorts, well-maintained Nordic skiing routes and marked hiking and cycle routes.
Vrchlabí is the ideal location for your Krkonoše holiday accommodation. In contrast to other resorts in the Krkonoše, Vrchlabí is a functioning town with the full spectrum of amenities, and contains dozens of shops, restaurants, a theatre, cinema and a complete range of healthcare facilities.
Two ski centres are located within Vrchlabí itself.
Skiareál Kněžický vrch www.skiareal-vrchlabi.cz, featuring a ski lift and 3 ski tows, is primarily aimed at families. With two four-seat ski lifts, 7 ski tows and 12 km of ski routes, Herlíkovice ski centre www.snowhill.cz/herlikovice/ is a modern facility and one of the main ski resorts in the Krkonoše.
Vrchlabí is also ideally situated, exactly halfway between the two best ski resorts in the Krkonoše, Skiareál Špindlerův Mlýn www.skiareal.cz and SkiResort Jánské Lázně - Černá Hora www.cerna-hora.cz/zima/, with connections to both via ski-bus. Together with other, smaller resorts, you will have access to more than 60 km of ski routes within 15 km of your apartment. The cross-country routes in the surrounding area are popular with fans of Nordic-style skiing.
In summer you can experience the marvellous scenery in the surrounding area using the large number of well-marked hiking and cycling trails. The "Bike aréna Krkonoše", offering mountain-biking routes, was also recently opened in Vrchlabí.
In Vrchlabí you can also find many other sports and recreation facilities – tennis courts, an indoor hall for volleyball, basketball, floorball, ten-pin bowling, crazy golf, fitness etc.
